My wife, Elaine and I have built many homes in various parts of the country. Nothing prepared us for the challenges in building our first Log Home in Hayden Lake, Idaho. Since the structure consisted of Hand Hewn, Dovetail corners using 14" Fir logs and chunky Cedar Shake shingles, we knew that our interiors must also be constructed in high-quality authentic materials that complemented the natural feel of the exterior. The greatest challenge was in blending interior technology within the features that are and will be as timeless as the structure. Our builder , Randy Campbell was keen to our approach. He said he had one man, Paul Pidskalny owner of the Joinery in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He jokingly said Paul was really an artist disguising himself as a high-quality custom wood worker and cabinet maker and that he would ask him if he might be interested in our project. We are blessed that Paul agreed to meet with us. We joined hands at our very first meeting. Paul's vision in interpreting our ideas was the single most important element in achieving them. We would have an idea and the next thing we knew Paul was presenting elevation sketches in precise detail that were even better than we could imagine. Every single square foot of our home has Paul's signature on it. Paul has done many other exciting home interiors, but, his uniqueness is tailoring our ideas to his knowledge and taste level created our special Summer home we call our "Jewel Box".
